From that link I found the actual listing, which includes more detailed info but no particular reason for this listing. It just survived the Warboys reforms.
Fascinating the things a cyclist has time to see.

Here's one I first saw on a holiday in 1999. I presume C 156 is the road classification but I've never seen a sign for a C road elsewhere

A new sign has been installed Mick F, luckily the original templates were located and the money was raised to cast a new signpost.
No doubt somebody will post a link to it?

Redpost is at a crossroads 20odd miles north of here.
Sounds like a decent bike ride is on the cards to check out the new sign!
The weather has been variously wet, damp, windy, cold, horrid for weeks on end. It's not conducive for pleasure/leisure cycling.

Stoke sub Hamdon is just down the road from me, well maybe 20 miles away. You've piqued my interest now. I must have ridden past the sign 100 times without noticing.
I feel a ride coming on soon with my eyes open.

I just looked on google map street view and am ashamed to say i have passed it on numerous occasions without noticing it. I probably saw the sign but didnt register with me that it was unusual. Plenty of other signs locally. I am usually hauling the tandem up here as its a stiff climb and on the way home we are going far to fast to notice as its pointing the other way.
There used to be a sign like this one at Challacombe on Exmoor until the council replaced it with a blue notice.

This one was still there until around 20 years ago.

Countisbury hill dropping down to Lynmouth on Exmoor. Some wag has rotated the sign. Hope he or she is feeling sheepish

The original sign was placed here by the ctc. Long gone now.

A lot of the old signs on exmoor have been "upgraded" to comply with current legislation. A lot of the old ones have disappeared - i quite liked the original sign at Challacombe which said "No Charabangs" now replaced with a blue sign about heavy good vehicles. Even the "cyclist advised to dismount and walk" signs coming down countisbury hill into lynmouth have gone and been replaced by blue advisory "cyclists dismount" signs

Here's a CTC sign at the top of a hill a few miles from Lenham in South East England. Unfortunately it was in poor condition. Blink and the sign would have been easy to miss. I saw it because I'd been chatting to a clubmate about the old CTC signs a few years ago and it had been mentioned that this one was still visible by the roadside.

The NCU "Cyclists ride with caution" sign on Church Road in North Rode, Cheshire, was a feature of my youth. Last time this came up, someone said it was still there. Certainly there's a
photo available and I think you can see it on
Google Street View.
