Robins are nesting in my saddlepack.

Post by Mr.Benton »

Three weeks ago I noticed a pair of robins entering and leaving my bike shed through the broken window. On investigation I found they were building a nest in the saddlepack attached to my main bike. Not wanting to be without the bike I decided to switch the bikes the saddlepack was attached to. So I unattached the saddlepack, replaced the main bike with the spare bike, and attached the saddlepack in the same location.
The result is the robins didn't notice the switch and Mrs Robin is now sitting on the nest. If you zoom into the picture you can see her brown back and tail.

I'll update if I notice any hatching activity.

Blessed are The Meek - for they shall inherit the Earth... not the cheesemakers, mind - there's nothing special bout them.

Have you sent a copy to Carradice?

They will find a way :)
Hopefully they'll have a couple of good broods.
They will also return next year(s).

They can have a new slogan:
Carradice - for the birds
Or perhaps:
Robin in Carradice

Brilliant!

Fieldmice created a huge nest in one of my panniers left hanging in the bike shed over winter, but I wasn’t quite so delighted about that, because they shredded one of the carrying straps to make some of their bedding.
