I'd suggest looking at the Zéfal Dooback. I see they now have the Dooback II

Thanks for the replies. Our Bars are flat with horn things at the end so I do not think bar ends will fit, I think we need some on stems that attach to the metal bit of the handle bar, between the handle and the gear shifters.

I'm not clear what this means. But I have a mirror fitted to to flat handlebars with bar-ends, and here is a photo of a zefal cyclop (I think) fitted to bars with Ergon GP5.

Thats like I have. I will have another look.

My Bike is one of these https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/genesis- ... vargn22400 and there looks to be a little rubber bung at the end, can I pop that out?
Re: Mirror for Flat Bar Tourer
Yes. I have a Tour de Fer 20 (from 2019) and did just that (though I have now changed the grips as I wanted larger bar ends).
Note: Photo was not of my Tour de Fer.

At the risk of getting lynched, I would recommend a decent motorcycle mirror, over the plethora of junky bicycle mirrors, e.g., the CRG Arrow https://www.amazon.co.uk/Constructors-R ... 07NSDRFYC/ or any other CRG,
That mirror works best with a bar-end adapter https://www.amazon.co.uk/CRG-IA-300-Int ... 07142Q2YL/. The cost may seem outlandish, but it is a better choice than 5 cycling mirrors that are tried, work poorly and get tossed out. You can get replacement parts for CRG, if it ever got damaged. In contrast to the junk bike mirrors, it is very hard to break it, though.

I use an old Cateye one that fits in the end of the bars. Looking on web, not made anymore. I couldn't use the Ergons with short bar end as there was no hole in the end. I have basic Ergons and separate bar ends. From photo above looks like they have the hole in the longer bar end Ergons.
However my point of posting is make sure make sure mirror can be fitted either side for foreign touring and also easily and quickly removable. They are vulnerable to damage if taking bike on train, bus, etc.

Thank you for all the advice. I have ordered a pair of these, and will see how they go, if good my wife will get a pair, if not, I shall return and ask again. I might even return and let you know how it goes, but no promise. XXX

Should add , I only use one mirror, on outside. I don't think mirrors are good enough for manoeuvring, moving out into traffic, etc. I still do that by turning head and actually looking.
My touring (only) mirror is just to give me a general idea of what is coming up from behind.

IME any mirror with a long stem tends to vibrate and make vision difficult, as well as being more vulnerable to knocks. The best one for straight bars that I've found is also the cheapest - https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/100-bike- ... mc=8158024. It's very adjustable, and suitable for left- or right-hand mounting.
