Use something, anything, based on OpenStreetMap. We can all keep OSM up to date. The UK has the considerable disadvantage compared to Germany that public mapping bodies, in particular Ordnance Survey, do not donate their data. Here every building outline is visible with its street address in most places because the Katasteramt gave the data to OSM. Public transport companies use OSM as base data. Compare Britain. But we can change that - get mapping. Our world does not belong to Google or Apple or anyone else. My navi, sadly now no longer updated, has great maps based on OSM. I maintain OSM. Do you?
I am NOT a cyclist. I enjoy riding a bike for utility, commuting, fitness and touring on tout terrain Rohloff, Brompton M3 and Wester Ross 354 plus a Burley Travoy trailer.

I think that Apple use OSM as one of their sources of data.
