I'm still using mine. I have done something like 180 nights in it. Still keeps out heavy rain. Slightly modified by clipping 3 extra guy points on the edge of the flysheet.

According to the TN website...
They started off as Wintergear in 1980
Quasar introduced 1983
Bought out by Wild Country 1986
De-merged from Wild Country 1993 as Terra Nova, acquired Extremities
Wild Country tent range introduced by Terra Nova 1999 as a budget brand (relatively speaking)
Wild Country still exist as a climbing hardware/clothing company, owned by the Oberalp group (webshop closed to UK orders, 'cos Brexit)
Thanks for that bit of "obvious - but I still didn't do it" detective work. Looks like my memory gets about a C...

Wintergear was a company formed by Ben and Marion Winteringham, hence the name, rather than it being a Wild Country 'winter' range as has been previously suggested.
They designed and made some well thought of gear in particular a 'geodesic' tent initially called the Sapphire, renamed the Quasar. The link to Ben's obituary mentions the tent designs were sold to Wild Country. The same link also includes a pic of the cover of the 1982 catalogue which shows what looks like the Sapphire/Quasar among a shot of Half Dome Yosemite and other aspirational imagery.
