Recycled bikes in Nottingham?

Post by Slowroad »

Does anyone know of a charity/social enterprise in Nottingham which recycles bikes? I know there is one in Leicester and in Birmingham but I can't seem to find one here.
Cheers!

Don't know if there is an actual charity, but there is something called the Freecycle network.
Most towns & cities have one.
You advertise something that you no longer need, could be anything, old TV, bike, furniture etc (must be free)
People who want the item reply and you choose who to give it to, then they come & collect it.
It saves the hassle of taking it to the tip.
I recommend it.
For example, last year, the frame on my Raleigh Pioneer commuter bike snapped, not worth repairing, I posted a wanted gents bike and was offered a Raleigh Scorpio that somebody no longer needed, I cleaned it up and use it regularly, it's a great bike.

Cheers for that - I do already use the freecycle for Nottingham, it's called Realcycle and it's found at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/realcycle_nottingham/
I may advertise for a bike on Realcycle but I thought it'd be a bit of a long shot to find what I was after so I thought I'd try to find somewhere where there might be a few bikes to choose from and a steady throughput of new ones.
Thanks for your comment!
