How about using your old Saunders every camp now until this time next year. All weekends, all weathers all year round. 26 weekends.
How about it? Is that what the OP is doing? Is that assumption the basis of advice that new would surely be better?
(If the camping profile fitted using it rather than my other tents, I'd use it for as long as I could, and if it needed replacing I'd replace it then, rather than assume I had to do it now)

It is like saying any bicycle can take on the World. Yes any can, but it is much easier, much more pleasant and more free of breakdown to use for example a Thorn with a Rohloff..
Using that analogy, what you are saying to someone with a well-used but serviceable 1990s Galaxy who's wondering about a change of saddle for a long weekend's tour is that they should replace their bike with a Thorn/Rohloff. While it's a useful answer to some questions, it isn't necessarily a good answer to the one being asked.

Will you finally agree to my point or will you just keep trying to annoy? (All whilst occasionally being seen cycling around err Dundee).
I guess if pointing out the importance of context repeatedly is annoying then I'll be annoying...
Pete.
Often seen riding a bike around Dundee...
