Padded undies

Post by Thehairs1970 »

My wife is trying to find some padded undies/knickers/pants to wear under a normal pair of shorts for summer. We’ve found stuff on Amazon but I don’t think it will be good enough for all day touring - hours in the saddle.

Any suggestions?

These sometimes crop up in lidls and Aldi as cycling padded undershorts. With summer coming they may be on offer soon. Keep an eye out.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D

Corinne Dennis has a good reputation for comfortable women's clothing, it's her speciality:

Velovixen have quite a good selection https://www.velovixen.com/collections/underwear/

but I find their pads are often too discrete, obviously really for what they are intended for, yet it means they arent offering the same support you naturally expect from regular padded shorts, which limits how effective they are for longer rides, though its always a bit of a personal fit thing anyway.

but one of my horsey set friends suggested horse riders might have solved this kit problem already, and its worth checking out horse riding gear shops like here as an example for what they can offer as an alternative https://www.equus.co.uk/collections/wom ... -underwear

With an obvious caveat, being male I’ve found the padded undies from Corrine Dennis to be very well made with quality fabrics and elastic. The built in pad is comfortable whilst remaining unobtrusive. After a few washes mine became more comfortable as well.
