I can thanks Jonathan - my particular issue is of a lower order of significance than the ones being reported there, but I remain hopeful.
I am going to open a very good bottle of port at the weekend and see how it fares

It is, and it is, although I've never experienced it with curry.
Am still hopeful that smart people will get down to some research
Utterly agree.
I find it very odd indeed that poo now smells like curry, and that curry smells like poo now smells!

Very odd indeed.
When I see the bloke next, I'm going to tell him my "findings". TBH, I'm going to go and see him as soon as I can. Could be tomorrow.

Popped in to see him today, and reminded him about coffee and poo.
First thing he said, was it's all fine now, and coffee smells like coffee again.
He asked me why I asked, and raised the subject, then told him about the curry/poo issue I still have now.
He's ok, and I'm not despite having Covid in August 2021 and not since.
Very odd indeed.

The GP's sense of smell has returned to normal, but yours is still disturbed?
Why is that "very odd"? We know that the effects of COVID after the original acute episode are variable...
Thanks

Port report.
Yes, it's better than most wines, but I know I'm still missing so much, it's all rather sad

But if your discrimination has gone at least you won't have to buy the expensive stuff, or to put it another way...
... any port in a (cytokine) storm...

I have the remaining 17 bottles Jonathan - laid down in 1994 and 2000. If only I'd necked it all before Nov last year, eh?!

Port?
Quite nice.
I don't fancy a beef curry any more!

And even better it doesn't smell like poo. It just doesn't smell like the best port I've ever had. Hey ho.

3.5% of the population with long COVID. Ouch. That's got to be a drag on the NHS and the economy.
6 weeks on here and visiting the hospital weekly to deal with symptoms that might be covid related or might be something that snuck in while my immune system was busy elsewhere.

I'm seven weeks out from the original infection. I'm still getting tremors, especially in my hands during the day. I have to be very careful when out cycling, as twice now I've had to call the wife to rescue me as I've no idea how I could possibly get home. Rapid onset fatigue is still a feature, comes over me in seconds, and lasts for at least six hours, as is insomnia, erratic bowel movements, and in the past week I've experienced psoriasis on my knuckles on both hands and on my knees.
Something I've never experienced in all my life. So much for the COVID 'bounce'! Food still tastes definitely odd. I've been making the same chicken balti curry for the last ten years (everyone likes it and I use the same recipe each time), I can't quite describe the difference, but where once there was a sharp, slightly sweet and spicy flavour, it seems very dull now. Oh, and my hearing is quite badly affected, so much so I went for a test last week.

A straw poll of the people I used to work with and family members puts the figure of long COVID sufferers at 10% or more. Obviously the government would like to massage this figure downwards, for obvious reasons.

I'm fairly sure I've not fully recovered. 14months of this.
I don't have any stamina, and I get out of breath easily too.
Maybe just getting old eh? but I think it's more than that.

That is also my nagging suspicion. I bash on about taste because I
know that, but if I have an office day in London, I'm knackered in a way I never had been previously, for example.
