Best drinks bottle - recommendations?
Best drinks bottle - recommendations?
I have an old Boardman 700ml bottle which works fine - I can open the valve with my teeth, it doesn't leak when I squeeze the bottle nor does it entrain air.
Despite buying several I'm failing to find another bottle of similar qualities;
Bought one from Evans and after a bit of use the valve became so stiff it endangered my crowns. Got my money back on that one.
Bought another from Decathlon - easy to open with the teeth, but drips all down you when you squeeze, entrains air when you suck and shuts off too easily when you hit a bit of uneven road ie all the time in the UK - useless.
Ive looked at a few reviews and was unimpressed as the reviewers seem more concerned about colour than the functionality.
Can anyone recommend a bottle that works and doesn't cost an absurd amount ?
Also from where does the term bidon originate ?

£8 from Halfords. Lightweight. Easy squeeze facility. Valve opens with minimal pressure. I've tried to replace it twice but the new ones I bought aren't a patch on this one and I've had to rescue it from the bin. I have learned my lesson and will stick to the Elite Fly.

It's just a French word meaning can or canister, thus bidon à essence is a petrol can...Also from where does the term bidon originate ?

These are the only ones I found that don't leak or pull your teeth out.

Same. Had mine 4 years. They're a bit pricy, but they've outlasted any other bottle I've had and they keep my drinks cooler for longer. Worth it.

I'll second the Camelbak Podiums but with the added addition of their mudcaps - a little flip off cover that keeps the crud away from the spout. You can get some bottles with the cap already fitted (https://www.camelbak.co.uk/bottles-c2/s ... -620ml-p22) or get them separately. I've a couple of the "chill" insulated ones ("freebies" with some Vittoria tyres) that are good for limiting warming/cooling by the environment.
You used to be able to get Elite bottles that had a full flip cover on the top but the only ones I've seen recently are ones that come with the Deboyo steel insulated flask ones.

I bought a load of Tacx EVA bottles a few years back at a good price and they're excellent and if properly cleaned should last a very long time.

They come in two different capacities.
