Any chance of fitting in a bike ride? We always enjoy a trip up the coast and a visit to Dyrehaven.simonineaston wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 7:50pm I'm off to Copenhagen this Jan. to watch Laibach, in a theatre, in a nice comfy seat, surrounded (hopefully) by quiet, polite Danes. I'm fondly imagining too that the toilets will be immaculate, there will be no queues for anything I want, and best of all, the gig will be all over by ten o'clock so I can return to my nearby hotel in time for a nice mug of cocoa before I snuggle up under my double thickness duvet and potter off to the land of nod - oh yes!!
Now that's Rock&Roll...
We know a couple of ladies who were regular attendees of Glasto in the early days, and they wore long dresses/skirts and no knickers.briansnail wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 7:59pmI would like to go to Glasto but insufficient toilets are a problem.

...ended up at Reading music festival.
Walking from where at parked the car over a mile away we followed the crowd to the site past loads of people selling bottled water by the crate load. Some from a van parked on waste ground others just from the pavement. All charging a lot for water and cans of Pepsi.
Then I got inside the festival. That made the outside hawkers look cheap! But we had a bid time even though we got very dehydrated through the day. I can't think of a worse way to waste time and money.
Among the "But I don't like Guinness" comments I found this interesting. Discomfort and inconvenience have never appealed to me but I can appreciate that others feel differently so thanks for this bit of insightPH wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 9:09pm I've been six times, four of them working with the tents and staging so there for 2 - 3 weeks at a time, plus another twice when I've been there working before and after but wasn't able to stay while it was on, last time was 1997, I'd love to go again.
Even 25 years ago there were complaints it'd become too mainstream, I imagine that's even more so. But it used to be possible to occupy every waking hour with something interesting without ever going near the two main stages, I'd expect there to still be a lot of that. I'd be surprised if anyone went and didn't have a memorable experience.

It's also linked to Scientology: three of the directors of the company that runs the festival are known Scientologists. It's rumoured they bankroll small festivals like this as a future cash cow to fund their nefarious organisation. Many of the "indie" artists who play there are also Scientologists. See this article on the NME.al_yrpal wrote: ↑26 Jun 2022, 8:26am I go for the music and to hear the sort of stuff I like I go to the End of the Road Festival. Its where a lot of indie musicians go to hear interesting stuff. All the elements of Glasto are there on a much smaller scale. I have been to festivals in Europe too, Best kept Secret and Primavera Sound in Porto a couple of times. Getting behind the scenes can be interesting.
