But it goes without saying that that approach would be described by even the most relaxed climate activists as woefully inadequate.

They've stopped the live discussions. If the Tory senior management don't like the way they've been going, switch format to a paddling pool full of mud and candidates in swimwear and at least give us a good laugh (plus candidates and party would not lose as much credibility as with the old format).pete75 wrote: ↑18 Jul 2022, 8:49pmThey've stopped the live discussions. Re: Tax Cuts Anybody
The New Model PM doesn't need to hold any opinion, view, policy, notion or other coherent mind-state for more than the time taken to say it, badly and with plenty of dogmatic gurn, gesture, stance, posture and braggadocio, before then saying something completely contradictory and equally stupid, ad nauseam. The point of being a PM is now to do what you like at any particular instant whilst demanding unwavering loyalty, praise and sycophancy of the most grovelling kind from fellow performers and the members of the audience, even when they've been soaked in klown-ordure from the waste-policy bucket.Psamathe wrote: ↑19 Jul 2022, 2:43pmAnd she wants to be PM? For details see The Chief Klown Bokum and his familiar Nadzi.
Mind, such PMs risk their audience becoming bored with their tedious and oft-repeated antic.

Seconded!
By an equally sick(in a bucket) & tired(yawn)voter,to the point of sheer hatred for these self centred monsters from another world, who term themselves "potential leaders" but who couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery save the ability to fill their own pockets!
The same people who for the past two and have years have been nodding dogs to big dog Johnson as he,like his two predecessors continued to trash my country before with the electorate's approval!
It's a truly sickening spectacle to watch, what other countries think of the UK one can only imagine......

Re: Tax Cuts Anybody
There will be many around the world who are having the full schadenfreude, recalling our past history and those events involving various thieving and violent predations by the British state and its agents (commercial & military) upon their country and its denizens. It's hard to blame them, despite such feelings being of no real use in repairing the long tail of the various damages Britain has wrought over the whole globe in the past few centuries.reohn2 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2022, 5:40pmSeconded!

The current Tory shenanigans is nothing new, really, in the history of "our" country. What was new was the Attlee governments' temporary installation of what many of us Boomers think of as set of good institutions, laws and norms defining a good country for lucky citizens. That short period is the anomaly in British political and cultural history, not the current antics. See C16th - C21st British history for details.
But I may just be feeling over sensitive, being a spoilt Boomer softlad. Pal will be along shortly to list all of the wonderful achievements of Great Britain over the years, especially on behalf of all those lucky persons who begin at Calais.
