Pink globules
Pink globules
A few years old and being replaced.

What’s this that’s been oozing out and has solidified.

Sealant? Is there more on the inside?

Muc-Off sealant is pink.

Looks like Michelin Pro 4. I have some pretty old ones on a seldom used machine, talking about 6 years old or more, which have pink appearing in the sidewalls. No idea what it is. Never used a sealant of any sort and rim tapes are cloth, so this has to be something to do with the construction.

It’s defo coming from the tyre itself - rim tape is intact and no sealants ever used.

Whenever anyone asks “should bin this tyre?” I always think they’ve answered their own question.

It’s got its share of nicks and scrapes, but the main tread seems pretty ok (highly scientific assessment feeling with finger and thumb with old and new).

"Apparently its not uncommon with these. Michelin has in the pasy (sic) responded that its a pre treatment sprayed onto the under layers before the final top layer is applied and vulcanized. If they get it wrong, too much is applied and can ooze out like this. Apparently only affects very small batches, and is nothing to worry about from their view, and anecdotal evidence from people who've had the same issue..."

"Quick google, some say it is a bonding sealant of the tyre construction"

I have had the same issue with a couple of Michelin tyres and rode them without any issue.

What goes along the bottom of a river at 100mph?

A motorpike and sidecarp (living their two lives, perhaps, the hooners).
