Like my saucepan (small) - on previous tours perfect fit for a gas canister with mini-stove, lighter, pot lifter, etc. above so the pot itself took virually no space as everything in it would have taken the same luggage space without the pot.

Yes, to an extent. I wouldn't personally pack a t-shirt in a bowl, cos I like to know my kitchen stuff is here and my clothes are there, and I'm unlikely to want both at the same time, but fitting a gas canister and stove into a pot is a perfect example.
