I'd say she'll get to CP1 neck-and-neck with Mr Broadwith - so it looks like she knew exactly what she was doing

(It's really cool when someone takes such a different route to the others - and it's a sign that the planners got it about right )

I know how Pogacar was positioned 2nd
How is she 9th before going through 1st CP?
How is MB close behind in 148th?

After posting that I now see No100 is 9th That’s easy he was 9th through the checkpoint
Can’t see No1 at the moment but assume MB is shortly to be 10th or 11th but what determ8ned he was 148th earlier ?

Excellent!

Based on previous years, it will make more sense once most riders are through CP1. And even more once there are some riders on each of the different stages.

(I also found the tracker website in previous years more intuitive, but that may be just me ... )

TCR No. 8 started last night. Friend of the forum Mike Broadwith is taking part.

What does everyone reckon so far?

I’d not realised (or forgotten) that there are mandatory sections they’ve got to ride.

Does anyone know what trackers they use, out of interest?

I think the leader board started in race number order, then people got shuffled up as riders dropped out, then I assume riders reaching checkpoint one got updated to be in first place, whereas riders who were close behind were still in essentially race number order. As there are different routes I suppose the checkpoints are the only way of measuring who is in the lead. I wonder what the difference in daylight hours there is between the Northernmost and Southernmost riders and is it worth taking it into account when route planning, temperature, weather and wind too. It's the sort of thing where I'm interested by the planning far more than the riding.

It must also be hard to plan the checkpoints in such a way that there is no single obvious route.

Fascinating viewing with some very interesting choices. I’m surprised at the number of deep rims and as always the fixie riders bring a smile.
