These might help you:
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/pedals-clea ... extenders/
Or the cheaper one ......https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/pedals-clea ... -916-inch/
That's what I'd do next.

I'm still of the opinion that wider pedals would do the same thing better.

Whether you choose extenders or new pedals remember that you need to take care of the threads when fitting. Clean both surfaces, start by hand... and one of the threads is left-handed.

And, you would get a spare pair of pedals.......
DMR V8 or something like that used to be recommended.....I guess I'm out of date.

To the OP, I haven't read through the entire long thread as the solution to your problem is straightforward, get some pedals with a larger platform.

Bear in mind they reduce your ground clearance when cornering.

I got tired of sore quads and moved my saddle(s) back 10mm or so....moving the saddle back loads the hamstrings and spares the quads, so I was more or less back where I started in terms of relative loading on the different muscle groups.......I don't know why all this works like this, but it is so!
This is a bit of an old paper that discusses the biomechanics of fore aft foot positioning.
https://hull.bme.ucdavis.edu/files/2011 ... h_2007.pdf

I came across it whilst looking at Catalyst pedals
https://pedalinginnovations.com/science/

In the end I decided that I wasn't curious enough to spend $149.
There is a forum member who is very keen on those Catalyst pedals.
The paper by Sickle and Hull says they couldn't find a difference between forefoot and midfoot cleats at steady state, which is interesting as Steve Hogg mainly talks about forward cleat position for sprinting.
did you ever find the second paper mentioned (Elmer, Barratt. Korff & Martin) which talks about relative work of the different muscle groups?
I had a quick look, but boredom and the heat overtook me!

I haven't read that one, it was published here, but I just get an error of the site down for maintenance.
https://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/page ... ords=korff
However, PubMed have the abstract here.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21448081/

I think I could get lost for days following the links to studies on crank lengths and joint specific power production.
I think I've seen comments that the forward cleat position may allow more recruitment of the calf muscle and plantar fascia giving a small boost to power output.

Hello all

Thanks for all the information and suggestions, there is a lot to think about.

For now, I am trying Cycling with my Foot on the Pedal with the Arch over the Axle witch seems to be working.

Thanks

Kevin
