I'm just about to remove & re varnish our front door. When it was fitted we had a draught strip installed - a small channel was routed in the bottom of the door and a rubber blade which was mounted in an aluminium channel fitted. The blade and channel is coming out at each end, so ideally I'd like to fit another one, but darned if I can find anything similar to integrate.
Anyone any ideas?
What's this draught strip thing called and where can I get one?

I typed in "draught excluder" and the automatic suggestions thingy added "for bottom of door." That threw up all sorts, but I've no idea if any work.

“Door draught excluder” or “strip”.

I've tried those sorts of terms previously - lots that attach to the rear face of the door, but I can't find anything that rebates into the door underneath?

If you can remove the rubber from the metal channel have a look at classic vehicle parts suppliers (Woolies is one such: https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/?gclid=C ... IIQAvD_BwE)
They have loads of different rubber strip sections for window channels, etc.

The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

There's various door seals not intended primarily as draught excluders, though they do that job well. If you don't have any luck with the specific search, try a more generic "Door seal" or maybe add "perimeter" to that as internal doors will have different criteria.
EDIT - This was the third hit when I tried the above

is there a double glazing works near you. Could be worth giving them a try.
You'll never know if you don't try it.

You're welcome. It's the sort of stuff I ought to know, I was at one time a fully certified member of the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI), yes there really is such a thingBonefishblues wrote: ↑11 Aug 2022, 8:50am Oh ding dong sir, that's very much the badger!

I find that strangely reassuring.PH wrote: ↑11 Aug 2022, 8:55amYou're welcome.
