Many years ago, me and the dogs (both Border Collies) Rascal and Phoebe ....... were walking along there when the river was frozen over. Date? Can't remember, but Rascal died fifteen years ago, so it's a while back.
Sailor is our fifth Border Collie over the years.

Any road up, Rascal jumped off the bank onto the frozen river, and broke the ice. Phoebe jumped in after him, and all I could do was shout at Rascal to come back.
He ploughed through the ice as he went, did a U turn and headed back. Phoebe followed his track, and the two of them climbed back onto the bank.

Thank goodness! :D
