MapMyRide

Post by ChrisO »

For many years I have used the on-line version of MapMyRide to plan cycle tours in this country and in France. A key feature for me has been the easy to interpret coloured elevation profile which clearly indicates which hills are likely to cause us problems. That feature has now disappeared. I have contacted Under Armour, they say they hope to reinstate it at some time in the future. In the meantime does anyone know of a route planning app that gives similar clear indication of the severity of hills on a route?

Have you tried plotaroute or cycle.travel?

I like http://brouter.de/brouter-web - click on the wee profile icon on the left and it'll colour the route according to gradient.

It also shows profile, exports gpx and can work out four route options for each cycling profile. I like to use the CyclOSM layer (under layers --> more). Once you've got it set up the way you like, just bookmark the URL and it'll remember your settings.

If you want more and beta options then look at https://brouter.m11n.de/
