Summer sun headwear
Re: Summer sun headwear
Cheaper and arguably more stylish than Rohan.

That's nice, and the cord at the bottom of the flap will stop it from lifting and flapping above and behind the ears (as well as keeping the hat on your person if it does blow off the head). As mentioned above, I bodged a cord and clip to perform the same function on my Decathlon hat.

Old school racers just used to wear them backwards to protect the neck.
One thing to watch if you're prone to solar keratoses is that most headwear allows some sun through. I got quite burnt once through a Buff. The high UV Buffs are more effective. Cotton caps may let through enough to cause issues on a full day in bright sun.
I had a load frozen off last week...they're suggesting burning off my entire scalp with Efudix and starting again

School uniform shops. Quite a few of the kids at the school I work at have them and they seem to match the uniform.

Stuff that's desiged to keep the sun off is generally OK these days, and comes with SPF ratings.rogerzilla wrote: ↑18 Aug 2022, 10:53amOne thing to watch if you're prone to solar keratoses is that most headwear allows some sun through.
It's general use clothing like T-shirts or cycling caps that can be dodgy.

I've still got a couple of the old Visor Buffs with a neoprene visor - I was relying on these in the sun. But I got badly burned through one recently. I've invested in a Tilley with ventilation and cord.rogerzilla wrote: One thing to watch if you're prone to solar keratoses is that most headwear allows some sun through. I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my moto g(30) using hovercraft full of eels.

Agh, the great Efudix Cream. I daren't post the pictures of my last session with it, it was horrendous. Current Doctor and Specialist are suggesting something less cataclysmic! I have bowed to the hints to my original post and ordered from Amazon but then got Rohan to track down their version of the so called Legionnaire's cap. Bit the bullet and bought the two.rogerzilla wrote: ↑18 Aug 2022, 10:53am Old school racers just used to wear them backwards to protect the neck.

I find Efudix ok, but it only has about a 60% success rate on me, so the resistant ones need liquid nitrogen.

You can still get burned through the ventilation slots in the helmet (which does happen)
