I'm sure your lower mileage is something many of us are finding as we age. The more important thing is did you enjoy the 8 miles?

Re: The joy of bike riding
Yes, I did.
It was hard work, but worthwhile. Just getting out of the valley takes strength and effort.
We live at about 100ft elevation and within a couple of miles you have to climb to 760ft. My 8.26miles yesterday gave me a total ascent of 909ft ....... that's 110ft per mile.
The weather forecast isn't good, so another ride may be out of the question for the time being.

You, Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar
And yes, I have sorted the pedal cap by now! (It’s an old picture)
(So, how -do- you get the picture the right way round?)

Thanks for that
I'll see what can be done . . .
(Usually followed around here by a scraping of chairs and rapid footfalls, but what can you do?)

The joy of cycling, eyeing the darkening sky and the slate grey that is the inevitable sheet of rain descending from the clouds in the distance and wondering if I can complete the half mile home before it hits.... I didn't.... at the end of yesterday's 64 miler.... oh well it was a cooling shower....
I stand and rejoice everytime I see a woman ride by on a wheel the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood. HG Wells

View east toward Cleveland Hills. It seems that
on a less than clear day, you can see slightly short of forever.Re: The joy of bike riding
And where are the mudguard flaps, sirrah!? A cyclist with squidgy wet shoes will get us all a bad name in the cafes, squelching about leaving great puddles for granny Jones to slip on. I may have to write to Grunt Shatts about you, Master Morgan!
Cugel, creating a new stereotype of flapless-mudguard cyclists ( a long-standing pariah in all decent cycling clubs).

Master Morgan? I’ve been promoted, then!
I think you’ll find I’m barred from all the respectable cafe’s; and besides, the really -stylish- cyclists eschew mud-flaps. So last century, dear.

Well, I feel obliged to go on about mudguard flaps now as I have acquired the geetest sized ones ever. When agin' the wind I suspect they will slow me by about 5mph. When with the wind, I may take off or even find myself the envy of dinghy sailors everywhere.JohnMorgan wrote: ↑7 Sep 2022, 1:01pm Master Morgan? I’ve been promoted, then!
