Simple bike, simple ride, awaiting Notts CTC Ride bunch (I have to choose own route and own pace!).
A very pleasant Saturday, good for body and soul.

Niet. I was taking a photo.

This thread and the one started by KieranC now appear to be covering the same issue. I think it possible that they can be merged.

Please, for goodness sake, no.

This forum really needs a place for pure, unadulterated happiness, to counterbalance all the deeply serious stuff, and the deeply controversial stuff.

The thing that unites people here is the joy of riding a bike.

my first big tour back in 2004, The Romantic Road, one minute you are bowling along a country lane, the next it turns into a farm track, near Landsberg, Bavaria.

Of course, i could fill pages with this sort of stuff but i'll resist and offer just one more, on the Timmelsjoch Pass on the Italian/Austrian border during the 2016 Oetztaler Radmarathon, at times that day i could have cried in despair, the temp varied from 30+ to 10c, from bright sunshine to a thunderstorm, 5500m of up, 235km over 4 alpine passes all packed into a single day. Wouldn't've missed it for the world!

Convention? what's that then?

What a great thread. Here's a couple of pics from my recent, all-too-short (family responsibilities) tour in Wales and north Shropshire/Cheshire.

A stop along the Nantes Brest canal for a coffee. The forecast was for heavy rain all day. :D

I went on a ride this morning.
8miles, and the first ride since early August.

I used to ride 100miles a week and often more, but the past year or so, my mileages have gone down and down.

Sad, but true.

I think that's really the thrust of this thread, just to be out, on two wheels, or three, just for the fun of it, enjoying the outdoors, sometimes due to weather, time commitments, or just plain old CBA, I'll have a potter, miles don't matter, the peace and fresh air, the freedom, is all it's about...

getting dark that bit sooner which means I can get a sunset in and still get back in time for my tea. Looking forward to this autumn and riding into the gloaming, its been a long hot summer.
