3. He's as illegitimate as the next PM as his dozen or so illegitimate children. Poor sods, having that article for a "father".![]()
4. It's rumoured that over two dozen Tory MPs will immediately defect to the Libdems if he's chosen, leaving a very large hole in the Tory majority. It's this, inevitably which rules out Boris entirely.
I've got £50 on Sunak at 5/2 odds. My money is safe.

Re: 1. Some do, IME.
2. But always got another, better, job!
4. One or two, maybe. Rather imagine rumours of many more probably emanate from e.g. Sunak supporters!
If goes to the membership, Sunak still not white, Johnson still "one of us, a jolly good chap, got us out of that awful European stuff."
Never underestimate the racism of the English.

As I said, the policy is patel's but the quote about dreaming of it comes after Braverman took over as Home Secretary.Tangled Metal wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 1:04pm Braverman didn't dream up the Rwanda thing that was under Patel. I think it is very important to put that idea on her so hopefully it ends her further political ambitions. If anyone is worse than SB it's PP!
She's every bit as heartless as Patel and possibly stupider.I would love to have a front page of The Telegraph with a plane taking off to Rwanda, that’s my dream, it’s my obsession,” Braverman told Chopper’s Politics on Tuesday.

As a human being, he was (and presumably still is) an odious, self serving, selfish, arrogant, egregious and toxic megalomaniac. He is also a persistent, pathological liar.
Which is why eventually no one wanted him on their team. A good prime minister has to have experience and grit and integrity to lead and be part of a huge team of talented individuals. They also need to be clever enough to know when their time is up. But most of all they have to engender a basic level of trust, not only from their own party, but from the country. Which is why we'll never see Johnson in front line politics ever again. Thank God.
What makes you so sure Johnson won't make a comeback?

You can't be serious! This is without doubt the most critical, explosive period in British political history I can ever remember. Everyone is know is talking about the leadership race. It will absolutely change the face of Britain (and probably nail the break up of the UK as a bonus ball) for the next 20 years. If Sunak is NOT elected PM, pretty much UK PLC is doomed to a slow yet steady demise. If Boris is rereleased, you might as well light the touch paper and watch Britain go up in smoke. Have the past 6 weeks not been tumultuous enough!Psamathe wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:00pm Do we need yet another thread discussing the same subject already being discussed on multiple other threads?
Quite a few forum members dislike the non-cycling threads and more threads swamps the "New Threads" pages and angers them and we get a restart of "Should political threads be banned ..." and they do have a point. This is a cycling forum but some enjoy discussing other subjects but the onus is on such subjects not to dominate the forum with loads and loads of such threads.

It's hard to describe the way Britain is currently perceived in the rest of the world: somewhere between a bad episode of Dad's Army and Allo Allo.
The country is an international laughing stock.
Do you think imperial weights and measures are more important!

Although it's anecdotal, TV current affairs going to Conservative held constituencies and interviewing Conservative Party members seem to be getting a lot of "get Boris back" comments.Dingdong wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:44pmDream on Captain Mannering, never going to happen.pete75 wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:40pmIf it his candidacy gets to a mebership vote he's back in.Dingdong wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 1:41pm

I don't know where you get your statistics from (who does!) But Sunak is on 5/6, which is better than Johnson's evens. Please be accurate in future.
We'll see. What the hell with the Captain Mannering?Dingdong wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:44pmDream on Captain Mannering, never going to happen.pete75 wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:40pmIf it his candidacy gets to a mebership vote he's back in.Dingdong wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 1:41pm

Not a widely held view. It just restarts "Should political threads be banned ..." and with multiple political threads on the same subject those arguing for a ban do have a valid point.Dingdong wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:47pmThreads man, you can never have enough threadsPsamathe wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:45pmIt's already being discussed in other threads.Dingdong wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 2:42pm
