Crosso panniers

Just a quick note I've been meaning to do for ages to praise Crosso panniers. I bought a pair of the basic rear panniers, having some experience of expensive Vaude and Ortlieb panniers. The latter are both good - but truth be told I rrally like the Crossos for their simple steel hook rack mounts top and bottom. Just a simple 'lift and separate' to get them on or off. Totally stable and of course they are 100% waterproof.

Indeed they are good value for money and the steel hooks might be more trustworthy long term.

However, the anti-sway hook looks a bit faffy. Do you have to kneel on the floor to get under the pannier each time to secure it?

The lower hook is actually easy to attach. You simply hold the pannier by the carry handle at the top and swing it in - then lift when it connects. A knack quickly learned.

Have heard good reports.
But have the idea that they are nowhere as cheap as they used to be.
And steel hooks?
What will those do to your racks?

The anti sway hooks just seem a modern version of the old fashioned hook on the end if a bit of elastic... so presumably as ineffective/effective (delete as appropriate). The CJ viewed Carradices repacement of the elastic with nylon webbing adjustsble from the top when fitted as an improvement...

I never bought panniers until the modern non-elastic methods appeared (karrimor disclock on my case) due to dubious ness of elastics sntisway properties.

Fair comments. All I can say is they worked for me over hundreds of miles this summer. For context I had 2 x 15L Vaude on the front rack (with Ortlieb style fixings) and they're pretty good too. But a bit of a fiddle putting on and off.My partner had Ortlieb Classics on the back and Crossos on the front, albeit the model with Ortlieb style fixings.
The steel hooks of the basic Crossos would scratch up a black rack if you don't put the supplied protectors on.
A last thought: the Crossos are not protected around the bottom likemore expensive makes so you have to be more careful not toscrape them around on say hard surfaces...
