Is this derailleur bent ?

Post by Jules59 »

Is this Ultegra derailleur bent ?
It appears to have a slight outward curve towards the bottom sprocket.
Should the cage sides be straight and parallel ?

There's a lot of questions on the Web with similar appearance and the same question...

What model is it, please?

It doesn't really matter what shape it is.! If the pulleys are "straight" with the chain line and the chain doesn't hit it just twist it till both of those are so

Shimano Ultegra RD -R8000

Interestingly - Ive just looked at the Shimano Dealers manual and there does appear to be an outward bend in the cage in the diagrams

Looking at the alignment guide the lower sprocket appears tilted outward slightly at the bottom.

So its seems my derailleur is not bent abnormally.
