Looking for a front bag for a Tern that can hold a large volume (Ex two sets of waterproof trousers, spare gloves, blanket).
Everything seems to be "small bag" sized. Any help?

I have an Axiom Barkeep 16 litre barbag that I mount with a KlickFix headtube fitting mount to my Tern. The Axiom came with it's own backing plate and handlebar mount but I removed the "plate" from the bag and fitted a KlickFix plate. Both it and my Ortlieb Ultimate 6 M Classic (7 litres) will mount with either the Ortlieb or the KlickFix mount.

I think the Axiom bag is no longer available but my "angle" is that if you can fix a backing plate, you can make other bags fit the brief. You could even fit a basket and put a small rucksack into the basket (as per the photo in the link to the mounting bracket above).

I suggest you check the Klickfix website. Even though you will have to trawl though a lot of products to find those which potentially can be fitted with a handlebar plate, it looks like there are various bags and baskets that might suit. Bikester might also be worth checking.

For example, it seems this bag be used with the handlebar adapter:

^ That’s a good call- there are some pretty random shopping basket type arrangements including a pet one on places like Amazon that should do the volume so maybe there’s something like that with a lid/zip.

Don't Tern offer their own luggage solutions?
People might have assumed you're thinking of handlebar bags, maybe you are? But for a small wheeled bike, with a long stem, a large bar bag wouldn't be my preference. Frame mounted basket or platform, with any holdall on/in it, would be my choice,

I can't speak for other people but my assumption was that belgiangoth is looking for something to go onto a KlickFix headtube mount - the sort that the Tern frame is designed to take. Given the brief, I would also go for a basket/platform and a bag in or strapped to it.

I have that mount on my Tern, which probably accounts for my assumption. I already had a large (16 litre) handlebar bag and so that is what I use with my Tern:

On a side note, I’ve found that there are three types of Klick Fix luggage trusses on the market for the head tubes of folding bikes.

The Rixen and Kaul plastic one is light and keeps out of the way when the bike is folded, but I found it shimmying when ridden at reasonable speed when I had loaded up a Carradice bar bag mounted to it. One for the gram counters with small bags. It also doesn’t come with a lock built in.

The mark 1 Tern luggage truss, cast in metal, is tough as old boots but sticks up quite high - this makes is handier for bigger bags and baskets, but it also means it protrudes above the rest of the bike when it is folded, making packing it away more awkward. One for the shoppers who don’t stow their bikes in bags or in confined spaces.

The mark 2 Tern luggage truss looks to have a lower profile and appears fabricated from metal tubing, so hopefully it it meets both objectives of strength and ease of travel.

Apologies freiston, I somehow managed to miss your earlier post
I hadn't realised Tern used a KF mount, when I'd seen them I'd assumed they were their own.

Select whatever bag you fancy, then but a fixing plate and attach this to your preferred bag.......easy custom solution. Bag doesn't have to be cycle specific. May need plastic reinforcements in the inside, again, an easy diy fix.

Lateral thinking… you can get an adapter to convert the mounting on the headtube to accept the Brompton bag mount, then either use a Brommie bag or a frame to fasten the bag of your choice to. I’ve done this to fit my Brompton S-bag (16 litres?) to the front of my Dahon. I think (but may be wrong) that the Klickfix mount has a weight limit of 5kg, whilst the Brompton mount’s limit is 10kg.

After a lot of searching I found mine on Etsy: sold by “London Craftwork” who sell lots of Brompton accessories. They don’t seem to have any in stock at the moment but I’m sure there will be other sellers. There is another type sold by bikegang.co.uk which is lower profile but I felt probably mounted the Brompton bag too low and potentially interfered with the brakes on my Dahon Mu.
