The next unfolding Sunak scandal is a biggie:
Re: Britannia Un-Trussed - The Sunak Sojourn
"If we get this right, if we get this framework implemented, if we get the executive back up and running here, Northern Ireland is in the unbelievably special position – unique position in the entire world, European continent – in having privileged access, not just to the UK home market, which is enormous, the fifth biggest in the world, but also the European Union single market. Nobody else has that. No one. Only you guys. Only here. And that is the prize.I can tell you, when I go around the world and talk to businesses, they say: ‘That’s interesting.’ Nowhere else does that exist. It’s like the world’s most exciting economic zone."

The Tories do on a daily basis and as a result have lead the country to disaster and a worldwide laughing stock.Five PMs in 13 years and a severing of the nose to spite our own face has lead to this unholy mess!simonineaston wrote: ↑28 Feb 2023, 3:20pm Oh the irony - you couldn't make this stuff up..............
Thank you the selfserving Tory party with help of a selfish idiotic electorate who believed liars and snake oil salesmen before the 'experts'.
It was all going to be so easy when we rid ourselves of the EU,now the chickens have come to roost and the truth is out,the brown has hit the fan and we're all getting covered!

What will be learnt (has been, as their antics show) is that a politician with powerful enough mass media hench-persons can persuade most of the people all of the time that red is green if the right prejudice-invoking push buttons on their already brainwashed fodder can be found. Facts, truth and all that old-fashioned nonsense are easily supplanted with post-modern made-up-stuff, if it meshes well with the already installed prejudices and queer beliefs installed by the wider culture, such as those shovelled into us at skool in the "history" classes or via entertainments (books, films, TV et al) that portray the world as a place very unlike how it actually is.reohn2 wrote: ↑1 Mar 2023, 10:10amThe Tories do on a daily basis and as a result have lead the country to disaster and a worldwide laughing stock.Five PMs in 13 years and a severing of the nose to spite our own face has lead to this unholy mess!simonineaston wrote: ↑28 Feb 2023, 3:20pm Oh the irony - you couldn't make this stuff up..............

Employ also the long tail of brain-infestations such as the assumptions and taxonomies of the British class system, various mad religions and so forth so that there's a lovely set of brainwasher auto programs that will clean out anything approximating scepticism, objectivity or reasoning whilst installing even more push-button responses needing only a single albeit meaning-free word such as "woke" or "race" or "nationality". (Meaning-free to the extent that one can shovel in any meaning ad hoc as the bogey-things are selected and defined as such).

We humans have been constructing metaphysical unrealities for millenia now. We're getting very good at it. (Or rather, the memeplexes that infest our brains and use us are). It's going to get worse as Meta and AI begin to eliminate even more of reality from our notice in favour of short-lived mentation-drugs that are far more pleasurable .... until reality switches us off completely or we find we can no longer afford the media "services" that soothe or excite us, one way or another.

That the Tories are liars is well known but I continue to be amazed by how many overlook this and focus on Tory headlines. Stop the boats , sort out the NHS etc. etc; the list is endless. I sincerely hope there are enough who voted Tory last time will now vote Labour as the spectre of Jeremy Corbyn has been removed.reohn2 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 6:56pm Tories = Liars.

Re: Britannia Un-Trussed - The Sunak Sojourn
All mainstream political parties are now in thrall to global finance, banks and a handful of colossally powerful & rich sectors like food, pharmaceuticals & fossel fuel. There's no meaningful power left anymore and politicians can only either promise cake tomorrow or putz around making meaningless micro-tweaks that turn out to be worthless.
The electorate has split into two, the half that hasn't cottoned on & contine to vote, like headless chickens and those who see that their vote is pointless and so don't engage. Unfortuately there is no viable alternative and most moderate voters simple cannot accept the awkward truth that their vote just doesn't count anymore...

There will be a general election soon. I expect that the way that people vote will make a big difference to my country.simonineaston wrote: ↑6 Apr 2023, 9:19am All mainstream political parties are now in thrall to global finance, banks and a handful of colossally powerful & rich sectors like food, pharmaceuticals & fossel fuel.
