What really struck me about those messages was what a spoilt brat he came across as.
The Tory Party is for spoilt brats by spoilt brats. They're spoilt in many ways: literally spoilt by the child abuse of sending them aged 8 to boarding schools, where they learn just how horrible humans can be. Lord of The Flies, continued at later boarding schools containing even nastier fellows from whom nastiness is easily caught.
At the same time, these damaged children are awarded vast opportunities for marching unquestioned into social roles that come with oodles of power and influence, as well as the opportunity to increase their inherited wealth by large amounts. They are literally entitled to a large dollop of high status, because of who they are rather than any fitness for that status.
The British class system is alive and well, serviced and maintained by the Tory Party and other repositories of such folk. Examine other British institutions that run the place (sort of) and you'll find plenty of similar spoilt brats: the BBC management & that of other mass media; the legal system; the Labour and other political parties; the execs of big business & consultancy firms; the armed forces officer class; the senior civil service; academia; etc..
The British tradition of aristocracy, inherited privilege and self-perpetuating mechanisms for creating and promoting the nastiness that craves and annexes power unto itself is alive and well. Unfortunately, so is it's habit of being inept, incompetent and thoroughly dishonest.
