I asked for an enzyme level test at my doctors and got one. My professor friend had his done privately.

Long thread about statins.

Suffice it to say, I'm now injecting myself fortnightly due to my very high cholesterol due to genetics.
The "rugby balls" of statins I took for ten years eventually were making me ill.

Athletes, therefore, could get some Repatha injections like me.

Thanks. Yes.

And I'll be putting some comments over there in the next few days, including on number needed to treat and availability of creatine kinase assays in primary care.

And half their skin might fall off like mine did!

I seem to be OK on bempedoic acid, so far.

Skin?
I've been on Repatha for over six years.
No issues whatsoever and my cholesterol level is down to five point something ........... as opposed to 11.4.

Glad it works for you. Do you know what type your FH is? LDLR mutation?

Indeed. The GP prescribed 20mg Atorvastatin when my cholesterol tested at 5.2, but showed no interest at all in why it had gone up in the first place (lack of exercise), or that NICE guidelines recommend 10mg for patients on Diltiazem (because they interact), or that NICE guidelines predict that 10mg would be enough to reduce my cholesterol below 5.0.

When I spoke to them about this recently they changed the prescription to 10mg and a ticket for another blood test, which then showed that my cholesterol has dropped back below 5.0 by itself, without having taken any statins at all.

I'm on Flecainide, which is contraindicated for patients who are ischaemic, so I asked how this affects cholesterol monitoring, but she just avoided the question.

Nope.
No doubt it's been mentioned, and maybe it's in my records.

I do know I had a terrible issue with "bad" cholesterol LDH? and that my "good" cholesterol was very high. HDH?
I have some paperwork somewhere. I may have to dig it out.
