How much of a speed penalty do studded tyres cause?

Oh, and just in case you were doubting, these are cycle tyres ! I'll be mounting them on Surly Clown Shoe rims this weekend and praying for a good winter !

Well, winter has come now, so the studded tyres have come into their own. I went out for 25km (mixture of road and gravel) yesterday to test them out and the performance is good, albeit slow.

Some photos of what I was riding in and then the extra snow that fell later in the evening.

Some more photos of the snow. It's just starting to melt now, which in a way is a shame, but I'll be happy to get off studded tyres for a bit.

Yes, those are studded tyres. Aren't they what this thread is all about? If they're not, then what are people referring to as "studded tyres"?
