Hello folks,
First post.
Been researching for a very long time.
Looking for really warm insulated waterproof boots that with or without warm socks keep toes from freezing in super cold conditions.
Brands such as Keen, Salomon, Danner and others all make 400g boots…
My pedals are not clip in so relying on bulky footwear.
Any experiences of solutions with wide enough toe boxes to accommodate thick socks or not and due to insulation prevent toes freezing?
Thank you!!!

Ha ha - that shoe-spec is matched by no cycling shoes I know off. However .....
These have just been bought by the ladywife, who is slim and easily made cold at the extremities when going at 30mph down the long Welsh hills in winter weather. She opines that they're much lighter than similar Shimano things she has, a significantly better fit and somewhat warmer - although she still needs sealskin-type socks and, in the really cold stuff, a pair of smurf overshoe thingies made of that windstopper stuff.

Currently is the sales.
They are a typically latin fit - i.e. narrowish. Advice is to get a size up (or even two, if thick socks are to be used) from your normal size.

During a winter when I was filling my water bottles from the kettle and coming home three hours later with the water frozen, I made a pair of pogies from heavy duty polythene and sellotape, they made a huge difference. In very cold weather I also switch from leather shoes to training shoes because they have room for an additional thick pair of walking socks.
