Brompton Brake Cables

Post by Nipperju »

Hi All, does anyone know whether you can use generic brake cable inners for Brompton brake cables please? Seems you can only buy the outer and inner.

They're standard cables. The issue is not so much what the cables are made from, but rather the complexity of making up the bundle. The cables have to be exactly the right length and connected together in careful ways if The Fold is not to be affected. Buying the ready-made bundles makes a lot of sense unless you are a) adept at cutting and finishing cables and b) have a lot of time on your hands.
In my view, speaking as someone who has all the kit and all the time in the world, I buy 'em ready rolled...

If you have the old "open clevis" levers used up to about 2008, you have to seek out cables with a bigger barrel. Brommieplus in Taiwan sell them. Alternatively, you have to buy new levers.
