I've done the Hull to Harwich a few years ago, only i did it from Harwich to Hull, then the White Rose Cycle Way back to Middlesborough. Excellent ride, I'm thinking of doing it again next year, but camping it. It is very flat, apart from the Lincolnshire Wolds. Very enjoyable and one I would do again.

It is 369 miles.

It would be ideal ride for camping, I did the H2H on a yha/bb ratio. I would rather camp it next time. Although the terrain is flat, it is however a lovely cycle route and I can say it is one of the best rides I've done.

Also it forms a link to the North Sea Cycle Network, so it can't be that bad.

I did NCN1 in mid March but started in Harwich (I reasoned that travelling north would give me the benefit of a following wind---wrong, a gale-force northerly blew the whole week). Route was very well signposted throughout despite the usual problems of vandalised signage in some urgan areas (or was it me just missing the signs?!)I camped every night, if you want details let me know.

Have done this a couple of times. Once camped and once B&B.

The bad news is that part of the route across the Fens is exposed and shelterless. Long straight open roads, and hence any wind will be a problem.

Highlights included camping, and nipping across to the old 617 Squadron mess, or the excellent Ceilidh at the "Old Ship" at Blaxhall.

Also had one campsite on their first day.... wanted to know how much they should charge and where they should leave our towels and shampoo!

We were honest and showed reciepts for other sites, also explained that providing towels and shampoo was neither neccessary or worth the hassle on their part.

A thoroughly good ride and open to all sorts of variations

I have purchased the Sustrans maps for £4 which seem worthwhile.

Thanks for the link it's a good site and some usefull info I think I will catch Train to or close to Hull then cycle back south and finish at Harwich or take a detour when I reach well and head back inland as Live near Bedford.

I'm possibly doing (my version of) the Hull to Harwich in September, so any suggestions of nice cheap campsites along the coast will be gratefully received. I've lifted loads off the UKcampsite website but there's nothing like the horse's mouth, if you'll excuse the expression.
Cheers!
