I have done a 80k commute by eBike but it was only once or twice a week in the summer and I took 2 hrs each way. Managed it on a single charge of a 15ah battery. This was with a rear hub conversion kit. I did tweak the controller to allow 16.5 mph top speed which is within the 10% margin theoretically allowed. Also my tyres were smaller than standard so doubt it measurably exceeded the legal max.

What time did you have to get up in the morning to prepare to cycle in to work? I have to be in by 7 so have to be up by 5.30am latest to get out by 10 to 6. I try to get everything ready the night before and get on the road before 10 to cos 10 to doesn't leave much time for punctures etc unless I push beyond the motor help. The ebike is slower than my mountain bike but I'm not wringing by the time I'm in work. You don't get 15MPH up hills so the road home takes longer but I don't mind that. The first 3rd of my journey into work is downhill mostly so the ebike is great on the last 3rd home.

I was starting at 10:00 so out the door between 07:30 and 07:50. Think I was usually up between 05:30 and 06:00. Was getting home between 19:30 and 20:00.

You'd not have much time to chill out before bed at that schedule. I'd lay in me bed a while longer.
