If cheap and cheerful is what you're after, I'm well happy with my Adventuridge 2-person tent I bought brand new from Aldi, for £30!

The hill is not IN the way, the hill IS the way.
Re: looking for advice on a tent.
I used a Hilleberg Akto when I bicycled unsupported from Perth to Adelaide during the Australian winter. A mylar bubble pad as an insulated sleeping pad was essential to help keep warm.
My Nammatj-2-GT was just too big (and heavy) for solo touring, so I bought the Akto.
I used a Hennessy Canadian hammock earlier when bicycling Adelaide - Sydney, but decided not to use it "out west" because of fewer trees. Mind you, the Hennessy hammock was great when bicycling The Savannah Way in 2006.
