A friend and I are planning to ride our bikes from Tavistock to Rye in the UK in early summer. It completes the last leg of his ride around mainland Britian last year he was forced to abandon last year, in aid of The Royal Marsden.

Are there any companies that organise the logistics of this kind of ride? At a minimum, we're looking for someone to transport luggage between overnight stops. But if someone wants to plan the route, book accommodation etc, that would also be of interest.

I run a small cycle tour business - it's mainly focused on scheduled group holidays but I do bespoke tours as well. I might be able to help you with some or all of that. For instance last year I organised a 3-day tour in Wales for four Belgians, planning their routes, booking their accommodation and transferring their bags for them. Assemble two bags of gear, and if travelling thus

A,b , c , d ,

When leaving A post to C,then E,G etc.

The second bag is sent to B from home, and then to D,F,H etc.

Use the same bags and share the costs.

Not sure that I would trust the Post Office (or any other courier) to guarantee delivery by the planned date

I think posting your luggage IS worth looking at. It's the sort of thing most hotels (outside TLodge and the like) are often happy to do. If you ask!

I've had a bike bag posted to our last hotel of a trip. And when I rode London-Ed-London (over a decade ago) I met a fellow rider using the same B&B as me one night - he had 5 nights booked in places that were happy to handle his postage. Not 5* hotels either!

We often use luggage transfer companies for walking trips. Sometimes with the same company booking the accommodation and sometimes including any necessary taxi journeys. It works fine.

But your trip will be over a much larger area than those walks, and some of it will be in areas that aren't so commonly used for holidays.

Have you already found a company that will do everything for you? If you can't then my suggestion would be booking the accommodation yourself and using a chain of local taxi companies.
