Hi,
I'm planning a bike tour of Denmark. There are four of us and we are planning to end our tour in Copenhagen. We have given ourselves two days to get back to the ferry at Amsterdam. Any suggestions on the best way to do this by train?
Best wishes,
Julie Hart

That info on the Man in Seat 61 is out of date.
This year, Danish state railway (DSB) was supposed to be replacing the IC3 trains on the Copenhagen-Hamburg route with new rolling stock from Talgo. The existing IC3 stock was intended to be used elsewhere in the domestic Danish network. This was also supposed to coincide with timetable changes (more direct trains from Copenhagen to Hamburg).
Unfortunately, the new rolling stock from Talgo has been delayed (as has the same rolling stock intended for Deutsche Bahn for the Berlin-Amsterdam route). In order to go ahead with the timetable changes, and to transfer the IC3 stock as intended, DSB has leased 56 IC carriages from Deutsche Bahn (DB) for 2023 (only). These carriages will be used to make 8 x 7 carriage rakes which include a Bpmmbdz carriage with 7 bike spaces:

The DB carriages have just started arriving in Denmark a few weeks ago and will begin service on 11/04.
From Hamburg, you have the option of getting an IC or ICE train to Osnabrück.
You can also get a Regional Express (RE) from Hamburg to Bremen (Metronom) and a Regional Express (RE9) from Bremen to Osnabrück - both these trains have excellent bike carrying capacity.
At Osnabrück, you then change onto the IC Berlin-Amsterdam service to Amsterdam.
If you want to travel with your bike on an IC or ICE service then you need to reserve a bike space and purchase a bike ticket. You can do this online for journeys within Germany, but you cannot book your bike online from Amsterdam to Osnabrück. Having just returned from Copenhagen, I can think of worse places to have to stay in...Unfortunately, the new rolling stock from Talgo has been delayed

You can see the train configuration info on this page:
https://www.fernbahn.de/datenbank/suche ... erzeichnis
If you look at IC 393 (for example), you can see the change from IC3 carriages to DB carriages from 11.04.2023
There is also timetable changes this year. Previously you could get direct trains from Copenhagen to Hamburg, and also get a domestic IC to (I think) Fredericia and then connect to the Aarhus-Hamburg service. My understanding is that following the timetable change, there are no longer going to be direct services between Aarhus and Hamburg, and you will have to change at Fredericia onto the more frequent Copenhagen-Hamburg service instead.
