I have posted the odd comment in the past where I felt I had some experience.
I am now looking for any suggestions on fitting bigger disks on the front wheels of my ICE recumbent trike tandem that uses Hope hubs.
Having spotted the existing disks had 6 bolt fixings I went ahead and bought a pair of 6 bolt disks plus the caliper adapters to go up from the existing 160mm to 203mm diameter.
As soon as I got the new disks I realised the current disks had a much bigger BCD than the current 44mm standard.
The Hope hubs use an adapter from the hub centre to mate with the 6 bolt disk so I have searched for and found plenty of convertors for centre lock to 6 bolt fixings, but none seem anything like the Hope centre lock which uses very coarse serrations. Hopefully this can be seen in the accompanying photos.
Is there any way I can fit current standard disks to these hubs, or do I need to buy new wheels to match current disc standards?

Re: Big disk on old Hope hubs
What you have is either an XC or a Big Un hub - I think XC from the pictures. It's a proprietary system but google suggests that hope 5 bolt rotors are still available - if expensive.

I'd advise an email to check BCD first as I think there might have been two different inner carrier sizes, one for XC discs and one for Big UN which used the 200+ rotors
I might also try an email to tartybIke's as they carry all sorts of unusual stuff and have very helpful staff

Thanks off-roader.
I will follow up your suggestions.

I have two pairs of XC. Both take normal discs.
Ask Hope. They respond well.

These are early examples from the time before the entire industry (sans Shimano of course) settled on the Hayes (if memory serves) 6 bolt systemmattsccm wrote:I have two pairs of XC. Both take normal discs.

You are dead right about Hope though and I was remiss in not suggesting them. I have always had good luck sourcing parts direct from them for an antique set of C2 hydraulics I have

Oh by the way all
If you look at the pictures again - there are 5 bolts, not 6
Googling for "hope 5 bolt rotors" brings up a few hits of interest but again do check the BCD on the larger disc sizes. My fading memory still suggests that the Big Un downhill hub used a larger spider for the larger disc.
This seems to be backed up by product images where the 180 and 200 discs have a similar sized bolt flange but this could just be a stock photo combined with partial recall resulting in a 2+2=22 situation

Re: Big disk on old Hope hubs
Thanks to this forum and Offroader in particular I now have the bigger disks I needed for my ICE tandem trike. I obtained the disks from Rush Cycles as suggested and thanks to realising I needed to search for Spiders rather than Centre Lock to 6 bolt fixing adapters I have also sourced a spare pair of the spiders I need.
Thanks to all.
Thanks to all.
