Sponging drunks. Or is it drunken sponges?mumbojumbo wrote: ↑27 Feb 2023, 8:48pm A free bar leads to excess and undermines budgeting . .People who expect a free bar are spongers and freeloaders ,and possibly alcohol dependent..
I like the idea of the free lunch as it annoys them accountancy-minded folk who deny the possibility.
Free booze, though - that is an invitation to excess, perhaps not just in the boozin' as too much leads to other excesses which may be a lot worse. Fights at weddings. Assaults on the bridesmaids, or even the bride, by lecher-drunks! Not a good look for a wedding or memory of it; and a despoiler of the photos if wounds, black eyes, or torn bridesmaid frocks are apparent amongst the gurns and grimaces of sulky drunks.
Better to avoid all that and spend the wedding money on nice furniture (i.e. not Ikea) or even some solar panels.
Cugel the practical.
