Chain tool for Campag Veloce 10sp?

Post by DavidT »

Hi folks

I want to get a chain tool for my Veloce 10sp chain.

What do I need, what would you recommend?

The Campag one is circa £50?!!

Preferably a lightweight, portable version for on the road emergency use only, rather than an example of professional workshop extravagance!

Thanks

David

I think I'm right in saying you can use any chain tool to split the chain, then if you carry a spare "quick link" or whatever they're called, can re-join the chain by hand. KMC make some reasonably priced suitable links.

Agree. My 20 odd year old Cyclo chain tool works on Campag 10sp chains.

Use a KMC link:

Thanks Steve.

I've got it into my head, rightly or wrongly, that Campag chains are a bit quirky :? , so needed some reassurance.

I have seen the KMC chainlinks.

That's ok David.

"Modern" chains are a bit difficult to re-join, they must be re-joined with special pins.

But if you use a KMC link, no problem!
Make sure you get the Campag one, not the Shimano one. Each one is specific for each chain.
