Worse than covid-19

Had a virus a couple of weeks ago I'd say was much worse than the covid-19 I had this time last year. Granted I'd been vaccinated for covid-19. I don't usually catch many viruses and thankfully my general health is very good but this recent virus floored me. I kept myself away from my mum who's 82 and mother in law who's 80 for fear they'd get it. A valuable lesson from the pandemic.

Left iron levels and liver function low. Found out after a blood test and ecg when my resting heart rate stayed very high for about 5 days so went to the doctor. Ecg was fine but hr at the top end of "normal".

( resting heart rate for me normally ranges between 50 to 60bpm but was sitting around 100 bpm and moving on up to over 120 bpm when I tried to do anything )

Thankfully all back to normal now although a still a bit tired -- another blood test yesterday says liver function getting better -- weather a bit better too so looking forward to getting back on the bike.

If it's any consolation, I know a lot of people who are or have been really poorly with terrible coughs, colds and bad throats. There also seem to be an unusually high level of heart-related problems, in all age ranges. Purely anecdotal, I've no idea what the national data suggests.

I rarely suffer from health probs (Covid, before the vaccines were offered was a couple of days below par before v rapid recovery), but over the last week have felt unenergetic, easily tired and unusually unfit when riding or walking - now feeling back to normal. Pleased to hear you're improving, also.

Mine started with a sore throat and went down to my lungs but that in me would be a bit deceptive cos I don't cough. Haven't coughed since 1980, since the surgeon told me not to cough or sneeze till my collapsed lung had healed properly ( after the underwater seal was removed ) so I didn't. Like someone holding a gun to my head, I didn't want that to happen ever again.

Had to look after my grandson earlier in the week Monday to Wednesday. He was not well and daughter tells me has a chest infection and now on antibiotics. I'm now feeling grim, sore throat and cough. COVID test was clear. Will keep an eye on my HR. :(
