I reckon we should do a wife swop. She can come and see what life is like in our house, that should cure her!

Chas has his electric bike kept loveingly in the hall, most of his Harley is under the bed, or in bits on the bedroom floor - complete wiht petrol smell... (dont even ask about socks). The kitchen sink is still stained from an engine wash from about 4 years back...

Ive long since given up. One week with us, she will totally be cured and be very grateful to her home life.

Defo put wife on ebay and find a new one, one you can train to the ways of cyclng....

Or do the wife swap thing but make sure plenty of cakes get brought back from Man and are distributed around here

I cycle to work she now has my (Company) car - sold hers and went to New York with her sister with the money!

Ah, then tell her that you have agreed with her dislike of the bike, that you want your car back and that she has to go and buy herself her own car. She might suddenly see things your way

Be truly evil......................................... tell her that you need the car and she has to get a BIKE!

Oh dear,

I fear that anything you do will be construed (correctly) as trying to get around her and is therefore bound to fail fairly quickly. Our kitchen table is in frequent use as a worktable for polishing old French chainsets and the rest. I think it is reasonable to point out to one's partner that kitchen tables are for everything in a household; meals, homework, web browsing, repairs, chats, occasional quickies (usually a good idea to remove the bike bits first).

The one thing you must never do is suggest buying a tandem. I remember that George Longstaff said to me (when taking an order for a fine double marathon frame) that the sad aspect of building tandems was that so many were built for couples who then went on to separate soon afterwards; that stat applies to me as well. However, I am happily married now (for the first and only time) and brought two tandems as dowry into the marriage - marginally more acceptable, I hope...

Good luck

Building a roomy shed is the answer to all of your problems. While this tends to be easily achievable, forcing your wife to live in it may prove problematic.
