VP 365 pedals?

These

anyone got any opinions on them?

I acquired a pair of pedals second hand which I think may well be these.

Seem OK to my non tech mind but I have recently lost a screw on cap from one pedal - seem to remember finding one party unscrewed before and screwing it back in found it hard to secure it. Anyone else had this problem? Maybe I should have used some sort of easy-release threadlocker, despite the fact that it would have been right up against a load of grease which may have compromised it.
Also interested in other views/experiences.
Looks a bit like the MKS Sylvan Touring pedal, including the screw-in cap, but the cap is actually different. Different threads.

This question was asked a few years ago.

IMHO the VP365 is a good pedal.
The outer bearing housing is longer (than MKS) because the axle used is shorter in these.
The pedal cap is of a smaller diameter than the MKS Touring pedal, so MKS pedal caps (Which are available as spares) cannot be
used on VP 365 (whose pedal caps are not available as spares, as far as I know).
There is no seal for the inner bearing. The MKS has a black nylon insert that may or may not be more effective.
The spindle flats for a pedal spanner extend right up to the crank when tightened and will score and possibly cause crank breakage.
Thus, the use of pedal washers is essential with both these and the MKS Touring.

When I bought a pair of these the adjustment was so tight that they wouldn't rotate. When I went to adjust them I discovered in addition that there was almost no grease in them. That rectified, and the adjustment made, they were pretty smooth running pedals and still are after about five years of use. It's worth keeping an eye on the condition of the inner bearings, those next to the crank. They usually dry out / become contaminated first.

This type of pedal can be re-greased and bearings replaced, whereas many modern items are sealed.Good value.

very true, though a screw-on outer cap, particularly if not well engineered, doesn't seem like the best of ideas in such a part.
Have put the pedals to one side hoping that some plastic bit of gubbins/scrap/whatever surfaces from my junk which I can use to plug the end. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to suggest.

Quoting myself.

success - found a plastic bit which I think is a dustcap from an old square taper crank bolt (24mm?), ie not the hex key fitting square tapers.

Fits perfectly.

It's true that it is not quite a 100per cent cover as it has a tiny short slot on one side so that you can lever it off, but then I figure if mr shimano figured that it was OK for a crank arm it's OK for a pedal. And besides I squirted some more grease in before putting the cap on so reckon all is well.

So, lesson for the day, never chuck any bike bits away, even if you aren't sure what they are.

True - me :) - always had a wonky memory.
(several times I have googled a bike question and found a previous question from myself!)
anyways was really asking about the P-poor cap - now sorted for anyone who encounters the same problem and has some old cranks to hand - those typically came on old low-end hybrids I think.
To tell the truth, I think my "bodge" seal is better than the original, which was maybe just an attempt to mimic MKS's style.
