Did anyone here from the Nottingham area know this guy, Reg Baker - seems a bit of a character, and with the right attitude 'Give me my bike, a bit of sunshine - and a stop-off for a lunchtime pint - and I'm a happy man.'

I’m from Nottingham and have to admit I’ve never heard of him or come across him and I was cycling in the 1970’s. The photo was taken in 1978. He worked for Post Office Telephones. I started there in 1980, but never came across him at work, but he may well have retired by the time I started.

His face does look vaguely familiar and I may have seen him cycling around Notts in the late 70’s, but as stated above I know nothing more.

He used to frequent the Manor Lodge near Worksop, and had relatives in Rhodesia, where my aunt lived. People mistook him for David Bellamy ,a botanist.
