I see the CBI thinks part of the solution to its (alleged) past staff sex abuses is to change its name!
To me a "rebrand" or name change is just trying to sidestep the issues, to try and avoid the reputation they've earned. To me that they've decided to go this route at this point suggests they really are not addressing the core problem.

SNP to SIP if reports are to be believed. I'll take a SIP of what they're drinking if that's made them think a £110k motor home was a good idea when you can get less than £55k ones that are just as big and capable.
What were unison and unite originally called?

Can you Backrub it? could have become a common phrase, had the company's founders not changed the name to 'Google'.
Type relentless.com into your browser to see what they're called today.

Then there's the Boeing 737 Max. "Change the name" was Donald Trump's suggestion.
And... hang about... Wasn't Cycling UK once called something else? And the equally august Fédération Française de Cyclotourisme back-pedalled its noble history to become the jackanapes FFVélo a year or three ago. Put the bloody prices up too.

On the other hand, if they did actually address the problem they would still probably need a re-branding on top of that to complete the job. It is hard to see how the name CBI can be used again, even if they fix the problems. So do we need a CBI, cleaned up and re-named? I suspect we do. It is useful to have a body that speaks for UK businesses.

The CBI were once powerful but as firms are now bigger, and less interdependent they have developed more subtle means of influence .For example some group is funding the Truss Tours fiasco where Little Liz espouses her right-wing vitriol. Then there are the numerous right-wing think tanks who seek to legitimise a particular ideological perspective, giving certain practices, such as flexible working, a superficial intellectual justification.

Monsanto renamed their 'ChemGrass' as 'AstroTurf' because of the AstroDome it was used in.
Today's version is often referred to as Artificial Grass or '3G', being the third generation. It's hailed as eco-friendly.

Yet increases to grow in popularity in the UK, because it's perceived as 'easier' to manage. Thus far, the powers that be won't recognise the cancer link, presumably because it's a lucrative industry they'd prefer not to throttle. But are quite happy to continue to pay out to try to cure cancer cases, many of whom are children. No doubt that's yet another business profiting someone, directly or indirectly, in our political system.
I think the original name should be put back into use, ChemGrass is far more accurate.

Plus pretty bad for wildlife and biodiversity - something we need to consider as a major threat (linked in with Climate Change).
