I have a Chas Roberts Audax built in the 1990s. I know it’s not suitable for touring fully loaded with panniers. Would it be suitable for pulling a Topeak Journey aluminium trailer with lightweight camping gear and kit for 2/3 days touring?

Unless you, or the original owner, had the Roberts built particulaly light, it'll be fine with a lightweight camping load, my sub 10kg kit has been on a few, Racelight TK, PX Ti Sportive, SOMA ES. For heavier loads I've towed a BoB Yak behind the SOMA, which was a similar build to a traditional Audax bike.
