Recently got an ICE Sprint X Tour with rear suspension.

It fits in all the cycle lanes I use. Unlike my bicycle , I do not need to avoid bad road in the lanes as it is much more comfortable and soaks up the bad road in the cycle lanes.

Having riden the trike, am reluctant to ride my bicycles again as the trike feels so much safer, comfortable and handles bad road so much better.

Rather than spend £300+ on a rear rack for panniers, will try out the sidepod bags first.

I can't get past this lamp post on my trike and the council will not do anything about it

Is that a raised kerb? And what's the status of the bit with the lamp post?

Thanks

Jonathan

It's a proper pavement, but my trike it 31 inches wide and that is about 25 inches at the lamp post, and the traffic coming down that slip road are going 30 – 40 mph. If your on a bike your OK, but on a trike/three wheeler no way.

That's because it's a pavement and technically you shouldn't be cycling on it.

Incidently if the pavement was wide enough for you to use your recumbent on, what happens if there is a young mother with a pram or a wheel chair user coming the opposite way?

It's a cycle path and as for prams and wheel chair users they will not get through either

Not seeing any mixed use signs in the photograph.... and given the narrowness of the pavement- I'd probably use the road. Looks like it's a slope, and I'd might make 15 mph...

It's difficult to see why Southampton council would do what you ask. The general poor state of the roads points to the council having little money to spend on fixing the many dangerous pot holes around the city.
With a trike the danger you face is not something that affects many.
I'm not unsympathetic but trying to be realistic.

I'd like to be sure about the status. Have you got some photos of the signage or can you add the location, possibly as a map or streetview reference?

Thanks

I've had a look up and down the road in those streetviews. Why do you think that it's a cycle path?

Thanks
