Disc brakes

Post by Gizzmo »

The boot? On my front caliper looks like it's coming off, is it just me? If not how do I fix it I can't tighten the arm any more, I'm not to fussed it is a replacement job I'm thinking of replacing them anyway as I'm a heavyweight rider now (me plus child or pannier) and I'm noticing I don't have the stopping power needed especially on downhill but haven't decided if to stay manual and go up a disc size to 180mm or go hydrolic and stay at a 160mm disc

If you're running out of adjustment, if the cable gap is close to closing, it's probably because you haven't adjusted the inward brake pad. Although called the fixed pad, this can and must be adjusted as both pads wear, because the cable gap on the actuating side is only enough to accommodate wear of the moving pad.
