Carrera Crossfire cutting out

Post by james01 »

Did anyone get to the bottom of this well-known issue? Our 2018 Crossfire has always had this fault (electrics go dead in the middle of a journey, press battery start button and all is OK again). The stoppages were common when we first bought it, then it got better - only once per month, say, but it's now getting to be a pain, with several stoppages on one journey. I've checked the obvious, cleaned battery terminals, also contacts at back of speedometer. Am I missing something?

It seems a sadly common problem; you've may well have seen it come up a lot on the Pedelecs forum. eg

The last post there was
I’m not sure if I’m remembering correctly, but I believe there was an issue with the connector to the motor. I think it’s located on the chainstay.
Cheers Dave

Worth a double-check in case it's a bit hidden and you missed that connector in your check.

It also seems unclear whether the later model resolved the issue; with conflicting comments on that.
