Its so ugly I'm surprised they got planning permission for it.
There's hardly room to manoeuvre your mobility scooter around it.

Yep.

If I can reach and operate it as a 5ft 10ins bloke, how can a person in a walking frame or wheelchair reach?
Let alone the people with "restricted" height.
We'll see how it gets on in the fullness of time.

The system suits me ok, but Mrs Mick F has yet to register for it.

It won't suit everyone I have no doubt, but it drives me mad that to collect a repeat prescription from the counter need a ten or fifteen minute queue. Good riddance to the queues.

Yes, I know that prescriptions can be delivered to your door, but you have to be in and waiting for them. They don't come via Royal Mail into your letter-box.

Chilled?
Mine have to be stored in the fridge.
Prior to dispensing to the patients:
Store in a refrigerator at 2degC to 8degC

Isn't yours still marked with a black triangle so it is dispensed by hospital arrangement in a refrigerator van and not with regular prescriptions anyway?

I don't know if it has already been covered in this thread as I haven't read every post but do none of you use the Pharmacy2u service and get your repeats delivered? It's so simple if you plan ahead and don't wait until the last minute when your urgent meds have run out. It took me a little while to set it up and adjust but it's really convenient for me personally and I don't even need to be at home to receive/sign for the delivery.

Going to collect repeats was always such a chore for me due to my work hours and the restrictive opening/closing times of my local chemist but there's a lot more pick up points available now to select from that do early mornings and late nights so that's probably as convenient as delivery.

Do they not drop of for you free? some pharmacies where I am provide this service. Just wait till Artificial Intel comes in 15 years. We will all have a home robot doctor.

My local chemist doesn't offer delivery and that's why I signed up for the Pharmacy2U service as collecting my repeats was becoming a hassle.

Sounds like a big risk for your meds to end up in the wrong hands or an animal?

Anyway, I remember pharmacy2u back when it was an "unsafe and ineffective" service that "left patients without their medication as it struggled with technical problems at a new warehouse facility" https://www.digitalhealth.net/2017/07/p ... ve-by-cqc/ and while things seem to have improved, both MoneySavingExpert and Mumsnet still have plenty of unhappy pharmacy2u clients (both links just random examples).

There's also the general question of whether it would harm the village surgery's viability if too many people switch away from its attached pharmacy.

As I posted earlier, I'd really prefer a click-and-collect system like Mick F's pharmacy now offers.

I don't know about past problems but it's working fine for me so far. If I'm not going to be home during the day I can nominate a safe location for delivery (i.e blue recycling bin, neighbour, etc). I could set up a click and collect type system via my surgery and have repeats sent to other chemists closer to my workplace but my meds aren't usually needed urgently so as long as I plan ahead by 7 days it's easiest for me to use the P2U delivery. If you want to do click and collect just call your surgery and nominate a chemist that's most convenient for you. It doesn't necessarily have to be your local town/village pharmacy. You could select a Boots within a Sainsbury superstore for example.

I know it doesn't necessarily have to be the village surgery's pharmacy, but I don't want to be contribute to us losing the village surgery. They've been good to me over the last decade. They're also my nearest pharmacy.

The Lloyds pharmacy in the nearby Sainsbury barn closed with very little notice. I know from doing covid19-mutual-aid collections that both local branches of Boots (town centre and edge-of-town barn) are as slow with short opening hours (the barn's dispensing counter closes earlier in the week than the village pharmacy!) and neither of those, nor any other local pharmacy I know, do 24x7 click-and-collect like Mick F's in the opening post.

I'd just like to be able to go along when I want, not between times when I'm told I can, and not have to queue for 30 minutes for routine meds that are ready for collection (according to the app). It seems like an obvious win. Why is it still so rare?

That sounds ideal but I've not come across anything like that yet for prescriptions.
The only 24/7 pick up points I know about are Amazon lockers but I don't think they're connected to GP surgeries and dispensing chemists yet.
